AYURVEDA

Inner harmony and balance of the bodily energies are considered as health in Ayurveda.

The word Ayurveda is composed of two Sanskrit terms – ‘Ayus’ meaning life and ‘Veda’ meaning knowledge, literally meaning – the knowledge and science of life. It is defined as the science, through which one can obtain knowledge about the useful and harmful ways of life and obtain health and a long life.

System of Ayurveda

Ayurveda uses 5 elements: space, wind, fire, water and earth as well as the tridosha theory of Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These elements exist in each individual in different proportions and give raise to unique combinations of the doshas. The dominance of any of these doshas determines the individual constitution, health balance and disorders. The balance between these three doshas leads to a healthy body and mind. Prior to any treatment your individual constitution is determined via particular Ayurvedic diagnostic methods and oils are used according to your body type.

Benefits of Ayurveda

Ayurvedic therapies are the best choice for prevention, rejuvenation and immunization. They maintain physical, mental and spiritual balance, especially by helping reduce stress levels which are often detrimental. For example, from the Ayurvedic view point stress can be interpreted as an increase of Vata dosha, which consists of space and wind, creating an excess of biophysical force, which provides movement in the human body. If this moving force has been misplaced from its root, it can create obstructions in the body. Initially it will manifest itself as an acute disorder, but left without attention and use of symptomatic treatments, it will turn into a chronic condition. With any chronic condition all Doshas are imbalanced, which may cause secondary conditions accordingly. By accumulation of the imbalance of all Doshas severe illnesses can manifest themselves, particularly in Winter time the Vata Dosha increases and we feel more pain and stiffness in the body. A gentle oil massage and steam bath can make a big difference as they open the energy channels and bring vitality back to the body.
